Paint Swirl Removal

Swirl removal AKA paint correction is making your paint shine by removing the swirls and scratches that are in your car’s’ paint. This is achieved by buffing and polishing your car with various buffing machines, buffing and polishing pads, and different products.

This is a very time consuming process as it takes patience and skill to get the proper results. The time it takes it be dependent of the size of your vehicle, the current condition it’s in, and the type of paint you car has.

There’s two levels of paint; hard and soft. If the paint is hard, that means it will take more time, more product, and more work to get the desired results. On the other hand, if your paint is soft, it will take less product and require less time to complete (generally speaking).

How Much Does It Cost?

It’d be impossible to quote you a price as there are so many variables that come into play with this type of service. It all depends on the level of service you desire, the current state your car is in, and the size of the car.

Other Local Detailers and Their Work

Unfortunately, the amount of detailers and detail shops in Houston that actually know what they’re doing with paint correction is rare. If you go to an average car wash shop and ask to get your car buffed and polished, you’ll see an inexperienced and average detailer use a big buffer machine on your car.

The results? You’ll have a bunch of haze marks all throughout your paint. This is especially noticeable if you have a dark colored car and the car is in the sun. Of course, the detailer doesn’t know what he just did and assumes he did a great job.

Our Process

Like I said, paint correction takes time and skill. And because our methods are proper, we go through a very extensive process to make sure we get you the results you’d love to see.

We first start off with a thorough wash to get rid of the loose dirt and grime from the paint, wheels, and tires. Next, we use a clay pad to remove the above surface contaminants from the clear coat. Above surface contaminants is simply micro-level dirt that is stuck in the clear coat- it can only be removed by a clay pad.

Next we’ll tape off areas of the car that are prone to getting damaged by our machines. This is a vital necessary step to make sure we don’t cause any unwanted damage. The next steps are completely dependent on the level of service you desire on your car. Typically, we’ll start off my compounding the paint with a compound and compound pad. This just means we’re going to move the majority of the swirls and scratches in this step. After we compound, we follow it up with a polishing phase. This is where the paint shines like nothing you’ve ever seen before as 60 to 80% of the swirls will be gone.
And finally, after we’re all done, we add a layer of protection, usually a sealant that will last anywhere between 30 days to 3 months.
